Cases

Where chosen work becomes accountable work.

Most visibility work disappears into someone's backlog and is never heard of again. A Case is the opposite: a thing you decided to do, with criteria you set, an owner, and a sign-off that has to be earned against evidence.

No card required.

  • Promoted deliberately
  • Criteria set up front
  • Signed off against evidence

The shape of a Case

One decision, followed all the way through.

A Case is not a ticket that changes colour. It carries the reason it exists from the moment it is promoted to the moment somebody signs it off.

  1. Promote

An Opportunity is chosen deliberately. Committing to it is an act, not a default.

  2. Define

You set the acceptance criteria — what has to be true for this to count as done.

  3. Own

It belongs to someone, so it stops being a shared intention nobody is holding.

  4. Implement

A Fix Assist workspace sits inside the Case, so the work is prepared where it lives.

  5. Verify

A follow-up run shows what the evidence looks like now the change is live.

  6. Sign off

Closed against the criteria that were agreed at the start.

Acceptance criteria

Decide what “done” means while you still have no reason to be generous about it.

Criteria are written at the point of commitment, before anyone is invested in the work being finished. That is the only moment they can be set honestly. Tie them to something a scan can actually show, and the closing conversation takes care of itself.

Holds up

Something a follow-up run can demonstrate one way or the other.

Does not

Something that will be settled by whoever is most confident in the room.

Sign-off discipline

A Case closes on evidence, not on effort.

Work being finished and work having landed are different claims. Cases keeps them separate, which is what makes the record worth anything later.

Not everything should be a Case

Promoting every Opportunity recreates the backlog you were trying to escape. Commitment only means something when it is selective.

Closing needs a follow-up run

Sign off once there is a result to look at, rather than once the change has been made.

The record survives the work

What was decided, what shipped and what was observed stays attached, long after everyone has forgotten the detail.

For teams and agencies

The answer to “what did you actually do last month?”

Anyone delivering visibility work for other people eventually has to account for it. Cases means that account already exists, in the same place as the evidence behind it.

  • In flight

What is currently committed to, and who is carrying it.

  • Shipped

What has been implemented and is waiting on evidence.

  • Closed

What was signed off, against the criteria set when it started.

Make the work you commit to countable.

Start with an evidence pass, promote what matters, and let the record build itself.
